Jasuto App Reviews

Deep and intuitive

This is my favorite app right now. Its very fun to play with, but also seriously capable. Im still sort of green when it comes to electronic music production and I still have a lot to learn, but using this app is helping me understand a lot of features of the other programs Ive been using by having the same tools in an intuitive interface. Its also made some of my other apps a bit redundant, since I can basically create more tweakable versions of them within Jasuto. Its great wether trying to achieve something specific with meticulous detail, or just experimenting with the nodes to see what happens. I only wish I wasnt such a late comer, so I could have grabbed the VST version, which is apparently no longer available. Jasuto is wonderful. Get it.

Highly creative and fascinating modular synth

Im using version 1.6 on iPhone 5s and IOS 8.3. Its a great synth app, very flexible and capable of creating a wide range of sounds and soundscapes. It gets 4 stars and not 5 due some glitches. First, in the File menu, there is no delete command, and the Delete button in the File Open screen doesnt actually delete the selected file. Second, in the Node Edit screen, double tapping the value field switches it to Num mode -- tapping it again to edit the value causes the app to crash. Finally, there is no way to enter or edit information about the file. The Information button doesnt work and for some reason the app automatically inserts descriptions from files that come with the app. I hope these issues get fixed.

The best

Jasuto is easily the best balance of raw power, flexibility and ease of use to be found in iOS land. Im sure its very difficult to remove all bugs from software this complex, but in the current iteration Chris has done a great job of getting rid of all the glaring usability issues that plagued earlier versions, and this app now fulfills all the promise that was there in 2009. While not for the faint of heart or the rompler-lover, Jasuto is a serious tool for noisemaking. Its an invaluable learning aid for those thinking of getting into hardware modular; most techniques used in Jasuto are directly applicable to that realm. Still great after you own hardware as a sketchpad for your patching ideas, or just to keep up your chops wherever youre at. To get such limitless power in hardware...Im not sure $50k worth of Eurorack would be able to match this app running on any iPad or iPhone you can buy right now. In a couple years it might take $100k. Seriously. You want 30 oscillators? 14 filters? 6 different delay lines? A dozen envelopes? No problem! Get out your wallet and keep funding this guy, because I want more! More!

Really good

Way better than the logo or screenshots would lead you to believe. I downloaded on a whim despite owning several other modular apps, but this is my fave.

Welp, looks like its over

This project is dead. RIP Jasuito. So sad an excellent project went to waste. Hasnt seen updates or bug fixes in a while. The website is iffy at best. My recommendation is to go buy Zmors modular but basically just look elsewhere.
